The Gospel or the Wife It is a simple question,
that every God-fearing husband should ask himself: "Do I allow my wife
to take precedence over ministry for
This corrosion often ends with the destruction of those whom we love, like our family members; take for example Lot, whom desired the greener pastures of Sodom and Gomorrah and when fleeing those cities, under the protection of God, his wife was lost and his daughters were corrupted. Serving God is like climbing a snow-covered mountain during a blizzard, and requires great faith, for it is only the Lord who guides us to the top of the mountain and gives us the strength to reach it. But, our human nature desires the greener pastures of the valley, which requires no faith, only what a man can do with his own two hands. Preaching the Gospel requires much faith, in fact I would say it is easier to climb a snow-covered mountain in a blizzard than to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ; there is great opposition against God’s Word, along with demonic attack. The Gospel is the power of God, which leads men unto salvation; Jesus Himself said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away but my words will never pass away." When we preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ from the Scriptures we point men to eternity, either to the coming judgment and eternal damnation, or to eternity in the Kingdom of God, with our Lord, and both are the work of God, either to His justice or to His justification of our sin. Preaching the Gospel often requires men who have strong resolve in the Scriptures, for, do men go out to the battlefields without their swords and shields? No, they go fully girded, lest they be slain. This responsibility of preaching must also be internalized, in a man’s own home; a man must wash his wife in the Scriptures, leading her to purity unto godliness, protecting her from the onslaughts of false teaching, such as feminism, which has devoured many homes. If a man neglects his duties to teach his wife in the Scriptures, others will rise to the occasion: "As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them.O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.13. The Lord standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people." Isaiah 3:12&13 Ask yourself "Who is it that runs the show in my home?" Do you as a man set down the spiritual guidance for the home, or does your wife? When you do ministry, are you worried about what your wife will say? Do your children respect you or oppress you? Consider your marriage: do you wash your wife, and your family, in the Scriptures, or, does your wife wash you with feelings and manipulation? Do you send your wife to the women's Bible study so that another man's wife can teach her, rather than you? The fact is that it is our responsibility as men to oversee our homes, and if we fail to teach our wives, someone else will rise up to teach them and to lead our families; this often leads to shipwreck and divorce. Why not suggest that your wife to stay home from women's Bible study this week, so that you can teach her? When a man takes his responsibilities as a man, God honors and blesses that. Our Gospel must be consecutive: we must teach our wives and children as Christ through His word teaches us, and we must preach the to the lost the good news of eternal life with God for those who accept Him as Lord and eternal death and punishment for those who reject Him. Why is it that you do not preach the Gospel? Are you afraid of what your wife will say? Which will it be your life?
