Moral =
Legal; “Legal” Does Not = Right
To state moralities or “beliefs” have no place with legality and
legislating laws is equal to stating that
the
legislator’s moralities and beliefs had no play in their legislating
laws. This is impossible. In reality, their beliefs are being
legislated. It would be desirable therefore to have people in the
position to legislate that have right or moral beliefs. Notwithstanding,
even legislators are not in control, God is. “Submit yourselves for the
Lord's sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in
authority, or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of
evildoers and the praise of those who do right.” (1 Peter 13-14)
When a person matches up to the moral law, or "natural law" as C.S.
Lewis puts it, he basically achieves the goal of the law of the state;
because the law, in effect, is written based on this natural law, of
right and wrong. No one matches up to their own convictions to do good,
let alone God’s laws. Only those whose consciences are seared as with a
hot iron no longer have these convictions. It is not sufficient for them
to commit abominations in secret, they want to write laws permitting
these shameful acts to be done in midday. Laws are essentially written
to dissuade men from things like murder, extortion, thievery, sexual
immorality, violence, and oppression.
There is a certain law written on people's hearts; a law that wasn't put
there by men. If a person does not fulfill this law, then he will
condemn himself, justify himself, cover his sin, or confess these
transgressions to God and prosper.
Laws are/will/have been written by men to allow/command/promote people
to do things that are wrong. For instance, even though legislation was
passed to allow homosexuality, it is still illegal and an abomination
before God, and worthy of hellfire. (Leviticus 18:22) (Romans 1:18-32)
(Jude 1:7)
Abortion is similar to passing one’s own child through the flame to
their gods (stomach, fleshly desires, ambitions, filthy lucre, mammon,
pleasures, wood, stone). “You slaughtered my children and offered them
up to idols by causing them to pass through the fire.” (Ezekiel 16:21)
Likewise, even if laws are written on paper to permit killing babies, it
is wrong and worthy of judgment.
In the past, king Xerxes passed a law to kill all Jews in his kingdom,
men, women, and children. Even though this law was passed, it was not
right. It was written because of a man's hatred, envy, and pride and
never because of morals. Actually it was a lack thereof. One of the
legislators of this law, Haman, was later hung on a high gallows that he
himself had raised. “He who leads the upright astray in an evil way will
himself fall into his own pit, but the blameless will inherit good.”
(Proverbs 28:10) Then a just law was passed by that same king Xerxes
(morality not lacking) allowing the Jews to defend themselves. (Esther)
To write laws contrary to morality (or what is right) is lawlessness. It
is evil and all the hypocrites transgress in this way. “Woe to those who
call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and
light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for
bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20)
In the same way, those who legislate laws out of licentiousness and
godlessness, will be recompensed. There is only one true Judge, and His
laws stand forever.
There is no power in the written law to save a man from the consequences
of the law, death. Every man has broken the written laws of God. There
is a new law through the life and liberty found in Jesus Christ, the Son
of the Living God. Jesus Christ was sent to die for all of the world’s
law-breaking/transgressions/sin. Change your heart and lives and confess
your law-breaking and believe on His son. He will pardon you, if you
repent. Today is the day of salvation. Seek the Lord while He may be
found. He who puts his trust in Him will not be put to shame on that
great and fearful day, the return of the King.
