Counseling: Marriage Counseling
Was Shipwrecked Right Out of the Harbor - In our Christian experience,
most Christians have rightly learned that doctrine comes out of the
Scriptures; not that they always follow
these principles, but that most of Christendom has excepted the fact
that the Scriptures determine doctrine. The major sects Baptists,
Nazarines, Assembly of God, Calvary Chapel, Foursquare and
Lutherans also would agree, in principle at least, that Scripture does
determine all doctrine... |

| The Gospel or
the Wife?: The Gospel or the Wife - It is a simple question,
that every God-fearing husband should ask himself: "Do I allow my wife
to take precedence over ministry for the
Lord? Today’s Christianity seems to face great opposition, not only in
doctrine but in lifestyle, and with the rise of false prophets and false
teachers there is an onslaught of corrosion against a man’s own home,
eating away the foundation like tempestuous termites... |

| Is Abortion
Wrong?: The right-wing
conservative Christian American has up until recent years had a
ready answer: “Of course it’s wrong, it’s illegal!” Nowadays,
that cannot be the answer because the American government and
the world in general have written pro-abortion laws, so the
anti-abortionist is fighting the system. So the pro-lifers now
scream “Murder!” in order to guilt the sexually active teenager
(or her mom) and the doctor. The post-abortion patient reels
under this indictment, not understanding the vehemence of these
self-proclaimed medical experts. The doctor merely counts his or
her money... |

Depression: I recently went to one of many
websites dealing with depression. This one featured a couple of chat
rooms. The rules for chatting were:
No sharing information on how to kill yourself, No sexual pick-ups, No
accusing or attacking, etc. This seems like good advice in any chat
room, but especially for those on the edge. However, included among the
No-No’s was a prohibition against discussing religion, as it is
a “trigger” for unwanted behavior in depressives...

| Love Your Wives: Paul, in the book of Ephesians, directly
correlates a man’s relationship to his wife, to that
of Christ’s relationship towards a man. Specifically that the husband is
the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church and Paul
tells husbands: love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church,
and gave himself for it... |

| Look For Love: Many people today look for
love, they think. But, all too often, they do not seek love, but
something emotional that makes them feel good
about themselves. Without the hope of self-affirmation or self-esteem,
their quest for love stops cold. Their hearts grow cold. What started
out so wonderfully now causes bitterness and hatred. What they are
really looking for is justification, and they are not getting it. Now,
let’s see, how many people say they are looking for justification? Not
many. But many are speaking of the necessity for self-esteem. Perhaps
the promotion of self-esteem is relatively new, but isn’t it just some
word juggling going on? Isn’t modern self-esteem the same as ancient
self-justification... |

Solomon On Spanking: "He who
withholds his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him
diligently. The rod and
reproof give wisdom, but a child who gets his own way brings shame to
his mother. Do not
withhold correction from a child, for if you beat him with a rod, he
will not die. You shall beat him with a rod, and deliver his soul from
hell"...
