While perusing the Net looking for some useful information, I couldn't help but notice that people are 'getting rich' off selling books, videos, music, calendars... you know, the stuff you can't help but notice.
I was cruising 'Christian' sites looking for a bio on a successful woman speaker. I found the following pattern in her books and well as all the others for sale:
1. Target housewives who have the "Problem with No Name" (as per Betty Friedan. c. 1965). 2. Identify the problem for them (lack of self-esteem). 3. Include the following as chapter subjects: Self-realization, body wisdom, marriage (or "intimate relationship"), education, career, God (or "spiritual guide"), children, recreation, mental therapy.
If you are a Christian and want to keep up appearances, plug the Christian names of things into the above formula. It will sell a million copies. Or, if you prefer, you can start a mega-church, go on speaking engagements and otherwise destroy the true church with false piety and false love for the brethren.
As Paul said to Timothy: "[these are] traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: From such turn away! For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth..." 2 Timothy 3:4-7.
