| The term apologetics comes from the Greek apologia, which means "defense" or "answer." Articles listed in this section deal with various factions within Chrisitanity as well as false religions. |

| Mormonism - Founded in 1830 by Joseph Smith, Jr.
He was 25 years old at the time. He came from a
superstitious family who spent a lot of time treasure hunting.
Joseph showed an early ability
for spinning tales. He was a good liar, probably encouraged by his
parents. Both he and his father were “considered entirely destitute
of moral character and addicted to vicious habits,” insofar as at
least sixty of their neighbors in Palmyra, New York were
concerned... |

| Seeker-Sensitive: The Antithesis of Grace
- The seeker-sensitive movement
and most 'progressive' modern congregations would unequivocally agree
with such opinions as these, regarding preaching the Gospel: ‘Don’t warn
them about Hell, or the wrath of God’, ‘Just let your light shine’, etc.
However, these sentiments smack in the face of Biblical hermeneutics,
reformers such as Martin Luther, great preachers like Spurgeon and
Jonathan Edwards, whom stress warning the lost of Hell as an essential
component of Grace through Faith. |

Catholicism: "The Catholic Chronicles" Revisited - Some years ago, a popular
Christian singer-songwriter named Keith Green was approached by a young
Catholic who asked, “What are Protestants still protesting about
anyway?” The question caught him off guard, to which he answered, “I
don't really know . . . nothing, I guess.” |

Seminary VS The Scriptures - Introduction: The following is my reply on a theology debate forum, in response to questions on why or why not one should go to Seminary..."Don't misunderstand me; I am not opposed to a seminary that the focus thereof is on the Scriptures. In fact I have benefited greatly from the ministries of men who have seminary backgrounds, however their focus was never on seminary but on teaching and preaching from the Word of God..." |

| Behavior Modification
- Religion is all about behavioral modification.
This is how it has always been. Even secular "non-religious" regimens
use the same methods used so successfully in religious ceremonies and
organizations... |

King James Only
Legalism -
Many words and phrases have
colored meanings due to the perspective of the person's stance concerning other doctrines. The phrase "once saved, always saved" has a
lot of color to it. You can see the color of it come up in the face of
those who argue about it... |

To Answer a Muslim - We received a question regarding
one of our articles. The article was based on Numbers 23:19 "God
is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He
should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He
spoken, and will He not make
it good?" The question had to do with the Islam religion. It is
as follows... |

Baptismal
Regeneration - I was asked to look at
Galatians 3:27 because this verse evidently proves that water baptism is
necessary for salvation. I decided to look
at verse 3:26 first, because it comes before verse 27. It says, For you
are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. I agree with this
verse so I find no point of contention. |
| |
| Faith Healers -
Isn't it strange that we receive many reports from Christians
that they or someone they
know received a healing at a Benny Hinn convention (or equal),
but the authentication of such healings is not available to us?
We are not privy to the medical history, mental or otherwise, of
these people. |
| |
| Kingdom-Now Theology - There are among us certain
christians, and others, whom feel both the need and obligation to ‘reform’ America, mainly in its social, political and economic spheres.
This conviction is often referred to as Kingdom-Now Theology. |
| |
Centered - Many people who say they are
Christians are nonetheless centered on other things besides Jesus
Christ. Positions of anti-abortion, anti-homosexual,
anti-liberal, anti-Bush, anti-Pope, anti-public education,
anti-organized church, etc., center the individual around something else
than the gospel of Christ... |
| |
| A Casual Chapel
Pastor found
something offensive in an article about his preaching. His response was
typical of all clergy devoted to their own authority... |
| |
False Circumcision - Beware of evil workers.
Beware of dogs.
Beware of the incision-makers.
Three times: BEWARE! So says Paul in Philippians 3:2... |
| |
What is
"Decisional Regeneration"? - Everyone
wants to be reborn, or have a new life, or some version of the two. This
is Biblical and should be commended. However, since the beginning of the
world, man has deemed himself able to perform his own rebirth. |
| |
Demetrius VS Diotrephes - Greek mythology or Latin lesson? Actually, these are the names of two
individuals spelled out by the Apostle John in his third letter. Can you
imagine yourself written in the pages of the Bible? You could be proud,
and rightly so, if it were a good report... |
| |
Dispensationalism - dispensational,
dispensation, Dispensationalists... what are these things, and what
are they doing in my soup?"We believe that God does different things
in different ways to different peoples with a different content of
salvation as revealed in the Scriptures... |
| |
| Covetousness - Satire: The Last Testimony of Mr. Jones -
I felt the icy chill as the
8,000-foot Sierra air cut through my Hoberg-Jones Parka with the
patented moisture control lining. I was glad that
I had also decided to purchase the High Alt Jumpsuit, along with the
Trudger Hybrid boots. Without my special outfit on, I doubt if I could
stand the cold at all... |
| |
| Keeping the Sabbath - Sabbath-keeping will not commend us to God
any more than circumcision, or any other law of the Jews. Why was
Sabbath keeping included in the Ten Commandment, whereas circumcision
was not? Possibly because Sabbath-keeping is a continual duty, and
on-going performance criteria, whereas circumcision is a one-time event,
a sign or a seal of purification and sanctification... |
| |
| Health Worship - Just
what or who is the Doctor? We spend more on medical care in this country
than on food. We obsess on
doctors and their drugs (Those of us who are legal and can afford it. I
guess the kids just buy theirs off the street vendors). And yet, when
confronted with the ultimate health care question... |
| |
| Fortune-Telling/Horoscopes: I cracked open my fortune
cookie at the end of lunch. It was a double-fortune, one of those where
the two little slips of paper are stuck together, thus increasing the
fortunate good sayings always contained therein. One slip said, “Good
news will come from far away,” and the other, “You are heading in the
right direction.”... |
| |
| False Conversion - God Loves You & has a Wonderful Plan for Your Life... maybe; maybe not. If one means by this
that God loves you just the way you are, and that he is just waiting
anxiously for you to come to that realization so he can begin to bless
you…you couldn’t be farther from the truth... |
|
| Earth/Nature Worship - “When I first conceived of Earth Day, a global holiday to celebrate the
wonder of life on our planet, I thought long and hard about the day on
which it should fall. It must be meaningful. One that might be accepted
universally for all of humankind. When the Vernal Equinox dawned on me, I
immediately knew it was right..." |
