  According to Today

1st Corinthians 14  According to Today’s Christian Culture*

What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, the Worship Leader leads the worship time, the Associate Pastor makes the announcements, and the Senior Pastor gives the sermon, after the  children have been removed to “children’s church” of course. All of these things are done for the strengthening of the laypeople — who only have an hour or so a week to be really spiritual.

If anyone besides the Pastor thinks they have something to say, they should not interrupt the service.  Rather, they should remain quiet. (There’s plenty of time for that after church, preferably in the foyer.) Let them sit in the pew and face the back of the neck ahead of them.

As is taught in church membership classes, the laypeople are to remain silent while in church. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission — as church tradition also says. If they have a question or comment, they should ask someone on the Pastoral Staff after the service —for it is dangerous for a layperson to ask questions in church.

(It might stumble someone!)

Who do they think they are, anyway? The Pastor speaks with authority; he has been ordained.  The layperson has not.  If someone desires to remain a church member in good standing, let him or her acknowledge that what I am writing is our official denominational practice.

If someone ignores this, the church ushers will promptly escort him or her out the doors of the sanctuary. Moreover, they will be directed to find another church.

Therefore, my brothers, be eager to sit back and be blessed by your ministerial team, and do not draw attention to yourself, thus interrupting the Spirit. But everything should be done exactly as it is set forth in the church bulletin.
