Basic Evangelism Principles:
Have you
considered going out and evangelizing in your town or city, but simply
do not
1. As Christians is it our duty and responsibility to communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those whom do not know. "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." (Mark 16:15-16) This is the direct command of Jesus, and to ignore it would be disobedience. 2. As for fear, yes fear is real; there always is the possibility that you may be rejected or even put to death as a result of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28) In our obedience and commitment to Christ, and in love for His Word, we cast out fear. 3. Your local pastor and church most likely will not support your evangelistic efforts; they will turn to you, with a smile, and say "good job keep it up", but unless you are planning on advertising their particular church, they will not support you; chances are they will instead speak evil of you, using phrases like "that's a bit radical", "we've already been there and done that", or "how effective do you really think that is?" But, perhaps our perspective should change a bit, to see these spots on your love feast as God allowing us to be tested, to see if we are going to stay committed to His Word and command to preach His Gospel, despite what we hear and see around us. Let this be a stand of Faith, showing that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is always effective when preached. Preaching the Gospel is a little like Noah, whom was told by God to build an ark; for 120 years he worked on it, and was probably scorned, ridiculed and criticized, most likely by those whom thought they were 'in tune' with God and knew the answers. He probably heard "How effective do you think a big boat like that will be?" However, Noah, hearing from God and being obedient, continued to build the ark... and on that appointed day, the Lord Himself closed the door and every mouth was put to silence. 4. I always recommend that if you are going to go out witnessing, that you find a like-minded Brother whom will go out with you; if you don't know of any Brethren like that, commit this issue to prayer before God with fervency; don't stop praying until He brings someone to you to preach with you. The Lord often tests us before we go out there, to see how committed we really are. While waiting for the Lord to bring Brethren to preach with you, pray for the members of your church, or other churches, for the clergy or the governing authorities in your town/city.
